Christmas poem 2

I can hear bells ringing as I walk to the shops,
The houses all have decorations from the ground to the roof,
The shops have put up so many lights there's going to be a power overload,
When I get home I can see our Christmas tree shining like the sun

Christmas Poem

The Christmas holidays, filled with joy.
The sound of carols sung somewhere in the distance.
The tree in the corner is as bright as the sun.
The fruitcake in the oven fills the kitchen with a good smell.
The turkey in the center of the table on Christmas day.

Orange

Orange like oranges cut into slices.
Orange like carrots boiling in a pot.
Orange like fire flickering in the fireplace.
Orange like the leaves falling to the ground.
Orange like a goldfish swimming in the pond.
Orange like mandarins in a bowl of fruit.
Orange like the sunset slowly disappearing.

😉
Red

Red like a tomato in the fridge.
Red like the sunhats everyone wears.
Red like the roses in the garden.
Red like blood dripping onto the floor.
Red like raspberries in a bowl.
Red like capsicum in a salad.
Red like strawberries surrounded by cream.

😉😎😀

EARTHQUAKE Interview

So today we are going to have an interview

So Grayce where were you when the earthquake happened?
Grayce: At my house.

And what did you do?
Grayce: I ran to the table and pulled out a chair. I tried turning on the light but there was a power-cut, so I was there for the whole time.
So Grayce who was with you when the earthquake struck?
Grayce: Me and my dad.

Were there any major disasters where you were?
Grayce: The glass and the roof cracked.

Did you have to evacuate?
Grayce: No.

Well thank-you Grayce for that amazing interview.

How snails got patterned shells

Did you know that snails used to have weird plain brown shells? Well in this story I will tell you how snails got patterned shells. Here’s how it goes…

One winter in new zealand a long time ago. A snail named Slimey slithered over to a small spinach plant. Slimey slithered onto the biggest leaf, he was preparing to eat it when Slimey saw a flash of light. It was bright, very bright. Slimey the snail went into the light and saw…

It was so big! It had big blue water and a rough pale substance. Slimey thought it was sand like the snails who visit occasionally say. Slimey slithered down to the water. Slimey was nearly there when he realized that the spinach had left green spots on his shell, the sand had left yellow spots as well!

Slimey went back to his friends and told them to go over the spinach plant. When they came back they had the same patterns as him!

That is how the snails got patterns on their shells.

The Elephant And The Crocodile

Ever wonder how we got kapiti island. Well it all started with an elephant named Jeff. One day Jeff the elephant went on a holiday to new Zealand. Jeff stayed away from the people that lived on new Zealand, simply because Jeff didn’t know if they were friendly or not. Jeff typically went to the seaside and looked at the ocean. It looked a dark blue with a white splash occasionally. Suddenly Jeff saw a gigantic green thing that looked strange. Jeff walked into the water. It was ice cold, but Jeff wanted to find out what the green thing was. Jeff was quite far in the water when he saw that the green thing was a massive crocodile! Jeff could not let the people that lived on new Zealand die. So Jeff fought with the crocodile until it surrendered. Jeff saw for the first time how starved the crocodile looked. But even though the crocodile was at death's door Jeff made him promise never to move. So the crocodile had to sit there, after five months the crocodile caught a bad case of the flu and died soon after. four months went by and trees began grow over the dead crocodile. Soon after shrubs and grass began to grow until the crocodile looked more like an island. Jeff the elephant named it kapiti island after shoreline opposite it, the kapiti coast. And that is how we got kapiti island.

Myth

The Elephant And The Sand.

One day a blue elephant named Jeff was going on a walk. Jeff walked down the to the seaside, to look at the endless stretch of green-ish blue water. Jeff walked down to the rocks that never went any further than the shoreline. Jeff walked on oblivious that the rocks he was walking on were getting crushed into tiny little pieces, that we now call sand.

Octopoem

Green and brown like chives and soil.
Cold winter breeze.
On top of the hill it is ice cold.
The overcast day made everything Gray.
Everyone wearing warm clothes.
Leaves littering the ground.
Someone watching an animal documentary.
Someone eating carrot cake.

Question: what the poem is about?

Moving to room 19

On Monday the 19th of september my class moved to room 19. I didn’t really want to move. But we had to so that was frustrating. I had never been in room 19 for any longer than an hour, but there was still some stuff that the old room 19 had to come and get. We put our tote trays outside on the court and went back to the class we were moving out of to get some stuff. I got a container filled with headphones and put it next to the tote trays, and after a while it was lunchtime. We hadn’t done much except moving the small stuff but there was a lot of that. After about fifteen minutes we went to the bus station to go see a play the college to going to do. When we came back to school Mr Corlett had set up all the desks and furniture and we just had to put our tote trays in our new class and we could go home. My tote tray was full of leaves so I got rid of the leaves put it inside and went home.

Orange

The goldfish slowly swam in the fishbowl.
It’s scales shining like shimmering orange jewels.
A bright orange mandarin sat in the kitchen bowl.
It gleamed in a stray patch of sunlight making the other fruit look dull. Leaves as bright as fire fell from tall trees bright as the sun. The setting sun cast a soft orange glow across the field as the world plunged into darkness.

What is the best superpower to have?

If I had a superpower I think it would have to be the power to have anything I could think of appear in front of me. Like say you wanted pizza for dinner BAM, it's right in front of you. Or if you wanted a new car BAM, it’s in front of you. But you might think that people would use that to get bad things and stuff like that. But not me, and there could be a rule. A rule where you could only think of good things to appear. But that rule would be hard to do because everyone gets angry sometimes. But it would be a cool superpower.

Whareroa farm visit

On Friday 17th of June my class and room 18 went to Whareroa farm. To get there we took a bus. The ride was pretty boring. When we got there we had to go inside a small building, we sat down in lines you were either group A B C or D. I was in group B with Krystal’s mum. We had to sit down while a person talked to us, when she had finished talking we were told what we were going to do as our first activity. My group had to stay in the small building because we had to learn about streams and what makes streams healthy. When we had finished discussing healthy streams we walked down to the stream. (Whareroa stream) At the stream we had to use a net to collect river animals, Josh and Stace caught a fish. Me Chloe and Grayce caught an uncased caddis, a cased caddis, one worm and 10 amphipods, and then Mr Corlett told us that it was our turn to walk up the hill.

Once we had walked about halfway up the hill Mr Corlett jumped up onto the side of the path and then fell off that was funny. When we got to the top of the hill it was freezing. After we got back it was lunch then we did orienteering and after that we walked along a creek, looked at fungi  and a dead wild cat. Then it was time to go home. By Jessie.

Pharazyn Reserve trip
On Thursday 9th of June me, my class and 10 people from Rm 19 went to Pharazyn reserve. We had to get to school early because our bus left at 9am. After Mr Corlett finished the role we got on the bus I sat beside Krystal with Chloe in front of us we played eye-spy with Mr Corlett.

When we got there Rob (one of the people organising the planting.) talked about some of the plants that we would be planting like the tuka tuka tree and that we would go on a walk after planting. Then we got a buddy and started planting. Me and chloe pulled the bag off the tree, put it in the ground with the fertilizer tablet and covered it with the sandy earth then stepped on it. We did that to 4 other plants, then we had to wash our hands.

While I was waiting this person gave me some soap, it was more like sandpaper soap but it smelled weird. The water was ice cold. After I washed my hands I had to sprint to the others because they were already on the walk, it didn’t take long to find them it was a very short walk but it had a good view, I saw a pukeko walking on a pile of sticks. Once we were on the bus again I sat with Krystal with Chloe still on the seat in front of us, and we played eye-spy again. When we got back to school it was morning tea.

Matariki at Whakarongotai Marae.

On Thursday 2nd of June my school went down to Whakarongotai Marae to celebrate Matariki. Unfortunately my teacher Mr Corlett was ill, so Miss Lumsden was in the class. Miss Lumsden took the role then we walked over to the Marae. When we got there me and the kapa haka group entered the Marae.
We put our bags behind a statue and got into our lines. Then the powhiri started, one of the people at the marae started to do a chant in Maori. Then the group of waikanae school people, led slowly by Miss Lake and three others who were carrying our tukutuku panels responded, by Miss Lake who also did a Maori chant. Then the kapa haka group and me performed te waka and Mr Campbell presented the Marae people with a small rectangle thing that had pictures of the tukutuku panels. Then some of the adults did a hongi with the Marae people. Then we went back to school, had our morning tea and lunch.
After that we went back to the Marae and did the activities that were there. I walked around with my friend Chloe. We looked inside the Wharenui, then we went and looked at Miss Gundermans helicopters, then we looked at the paper folding place, then we looked at the colouring place but we decided we’d make lanterns instead. When I was just finishing someone came and told us that the class was waiting by the gate. Chloe hadn’t finished though she insisted she bring everything she needed to finish. While I was walking me and a person spotted a car with the number plate I l1ke beef. When we got back we had two stories, in the middle of the second one someone came around to tell us that the kapa haka people who would definitely be performing at mahara gallery were having a practice. When the practice was finished we found that they weren’t there, Grayce and Cara who were there told us they’d gone to the top field. But they weren’t there so we went to the court outside rooms 18 and 19. Though I didn’t feel like playing, so I just watched. When the bell rung Miss Lumsden said a mini goodbye then we went got our bags and went home.
